The Prepcast is excellent. One comment - I appreciate some of the more lively examples you have used to illustrate your points and I’d say there are some episodes where some more imaginative examples might help to keep the listener’s focus keen. Things like “I am thumbing through US$10000 right now and I could give it to you now or later” - when talking about NPV, or “I went with the low cost gutters once I understood the difference in price” - in select sellers. More of these creative examples would enhance some podcasts and help the listener to remember the material. Apart from that little piece of feedback, I’d say you define quality in audio education!

I listen to it while I exercise in the evening and I must say that it turned to be very helpful. I like the times when you ask the audience to guess the processes and other things. Those interactions are things that challenge the thinking and make me remain very active.

And, I’m happy to know that you will be releasing more episodes per day. I will be taking the exam in few months and I do wish that I can listen to all 9 Knowledge Areas and 5 Processes before that so I don’t have to read the textbook. I would like to wholeheartedly thank you for helping me pass the PMP exam on my 1st try. I started my review about 3 months ago and relied solely on the podcasts, the PMBOK & free online exam questions. I have to admit that even though you recommended it I didn’t sit through a single full length test exam and in the end I found the actual test to be easier than I had originally anticipated. I had my mp3 player on during my daily commutes (60 - 70 min daily) and my evening workouts (30 min). I went over the podcasts at least twice and a few more times on the more challenging processes. 

Things I really enjoyed:

• The format and the concept of the an episode for each process
• Your style of delivery, never hurried but enough to keep you engaged and able to cover nearly everything of value for the exam
• Your examples, unconventional at times but proving the point nonetheless
• The interviews especially with Mr. EV
• The music in the background, never overbearing but keeping things from getting textbook heavy
• The layout of each episode with introduction, definition, ITTOs, examples and overview

Things I would have like to see:

• More great examples. I think that some processes could have benefited from additional real life applications of the concepts.
• Additional questions. I found a wealth of free online questions that helped me with some concepts that I felt were challenging enough and could be easily included to illustrate points.

At the beginning I was not going to subscribe this PrepCast^TM and tried to use some free but than changed my mind because only in this podcast I found what I was really needed in frame of preparation for the exam:

• clear explanation of the materials;
• examples of how particular theory can be reflected in the potential exam questions;

The PM Prepcast made the PMBOK come to life for me. After reading the PMBOK and the Rita book though completely once, I seriously thought that maybe I should give up on the PMP. Then I ordered The PM Prepcast and did exactly as you suggested. I treated it like a project. So I put away the books made a plan and simply listened to every episode once. Then I made an overview of all the processes in preparation for round two. During round two, I opened my overview and put on my headphones to listen. With my PMBOK in front of me and the Rita book just to the side, The PM Prepcast made everything come together for me. Your tips, suggestions, highlights, summaries, and references all made it into the white space available in my PMBOK.

I studied as you suggested one or two hours a night starting in September. I was randomly audited by the PMI in December and found that to be not as painful as expected. The first thing I did was go to the resource center on The PM Prepcast and read my way through it. After the audit, I set up the date with Prometric. The total time I spent studying was about 160 hours. I read the PMBOK three times, read the Rita book twice and used the Rita flash cards, and listened to The PM Prepcast twice.

I had the opportunity of taking a CompTIA Project+ project management course during this time and found the material to be very familiar due to listening to your podcast. During the first day of the 4 day course, I asked to take the certification exam in Project+. To everyones surprise (except me) I easily pass the Project+ exam and am now a certified project manager. The Project+ exam covers a subset of the material covered in the PMP exam…. less emphasis on formulas in the Project+ course compared to the PMP exam. So if anyone is interested in taking the Project+ exam, your podcast could be helpful to them as well.

The PM PrepCast is the greatest!

I heard that The PM PrepCast now counts towards the 35 contact hours required to take the PMP exam! Even though I already have the 35 contact hours, I am really excited and happy about this great news. I’ve been listening to The PM PrepCast for a few months now. I’ve observed how you are constantly improving your services offerings ( i.e. numbering the episodes according to the PMBOK Guide chapters). It takes innovation, guts, determination and of course, PM skills to do what you did.

I’m currently studying for the PMP exam. I’m using the PMBOK guide, Rita Mulcahy’s PMP Exam Prep book and your PM PrepCast. The PrepCast is a GREAT complement to my study-plan, and it’s even greater now that it counts towards the 35 contact hours.

I’d like to commend you for a great service and a great experience. You’re a pioneer!

To me, the Premium PrepCast is really useful to practice PM English. Thanks! It’s exactly what I needed. It is also really useful to pass the PMP Exam. It’s not enough to work only with the PrepCast but really helpful because it’s an easy way to invest extra time. You don’t have to be at your desk, you can be driving, walking, etc. The contents are ok, because they are the PMBOK and it’s what you need to prepare the exam.

Prior to listening to the prepcast, i had taught some Project management topics at a business school. I find the simple INPUT, TOOLS & TECHNIQUES, OUTPUT approach very simple and a big departure from the confusing approach in a PMP studyguide from a very well know publisher that i was using. The pace of the podcast is also excellent and combined with Mr Fichtner’s imaginative use of pauses for Q&As and examples, succeeds in the very difficult task of keeping one concentrated in a medium that is traditionally linear & one-way.

I love the background music — which is non-intrusive and have listened to this podcast across 2 different African countries (Cameroon and Nigeria) on the road, up in the mountains and in my bed in the dark when I couldn’t sleep. Together with the Project Management podcast, i find the prepcast not only valuable for preparing for the PMP but also for grounding oneself in the general practices and principles of project management (these two are my primary resource for an upcoming project I may be involved in soon).

In summary, I’d say this is as close as it gets to putting the PMBoK guide in a syringe and pumping it into one’s brain. 5/5 thumbs up.

I have downloaded the first 77 episodes and listened to them one by one up to the Quality series. So far I found the PrepCast to be an amazing product and very informative. I study the PMBOK at night then listen to the PrepCast material in the morning on my drive way to work. Thus I can overprint the knowledge to my mind. I love the PrepCast. I am using the MP3s on my Creative Zen and have listened to the overview, the high level material and the integration audios several times. My plan is to read the book PMP in Depth once (Process Group flow) and listen to the audios that go along with the book. Then read RMC’s PMP Exam Prep twice (Knowledge Area flow) along with the PMBOK and your audios. Then after reading and listening to your MP3 about three times - I will begin taking Exam Simulation tests from RMC every other weekend and reviewing weak areas in between. I have paid for the exam and have scheduled to take it next January - so I feel that I am on schedule.
